The short version: your journal, stats and settings stay
on your device. Binary Lab has no accounts, no analytics and no ads. It
contacts a hosted service when you first open it to load its settings.
Data collection
The first time you open Binary Lab it requests its settings from a hosted
service. That request includes:
a randomly generated installation identifier, which is not linked to you
and not tied to your device's permanent identifiers;
basic technical details — device model, operating system version, app
version, language and time zone;
your IP address, as with any request made over the internet.
This is used only to deliver the app's settings. There is no account, no
advertising, and no tracking across other apps or websites. We do not sell
this data.
Data storage
Everything you enter — journal entries, quiz accuracy (“Chart IQ”),
checklist items, rules, limits and preferences — is stored
only on your device, in the app's local storage. It is never
transmitted anywhere.
Deleting the app permanently deletes all of this data.
You can also clear data in-app: Settings → Reset Chart IQ stats, and
Settings → Delete all journal entries.
The CSV export feature copies your journal to your device clipboard only
when you tap it; where you paste it is up to you.
Third parties
The hosted service described above is run by a service provider that
processes those requests on our behalf. Nothing you enter in the app is shared
with them, or with anyone else.
Children
Binary Lab is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed at
children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the app ever changes any of the above (for example,
by adding an online feature), this policy will be updated and the change will
be clearly announced in the app's release notes before it takes effect.
